Racing
The Club has an active
racing section with many riders travelling outwith the area every weekend to compete in
open events
Cycle Racing
The Club runs a busy schedule of club time trials on a variety of courses during the
racing season from April to September. Distances generally range from six to twenty five
miles. In addition to the usual fixed distance time trials, there is a mountain time trial
series and a separate hilly time trial series, the latter using five different circuits
through the season.
The racing season is
traditionally opened with the annual visit to Cavers Church on the first Sunday in March,
where members and friends attend the morning service before taking part in the club run.
This tradition has been taking place for over seventy years. Many Club members also
compete in all types of open cycle races throughout Scotland and the North of England,
with some success. Club members have achieved top three places in many events,
particularly in time trials but also in road racing and mountain biking.
At the end of each
season, there are races for our veteran and lady members. The photograph shows some of our
veteran members after the 10 mile time trial.

credit.
RIGHT - Veteran champion Dennis Devlin. Dennis has won many veterans prizes over the past
few years and is getting faster as he gets older!
The Club also has a
number of juvenile members who are competing well in time trials and closed circuit races.
This photograph shows club member Craig Smail taking part in an open 10 mile time trial.
