Leisure Cycling

The Club organises leisure runs on a weekly basis, catering for both on- and off-road cyclists. These runs normally start at 10.00 a.m. every Sunday morning, leaving from the clubrooms in Teviot Crescent (opposite the Somerfield Supermarket car park).

Leisure Cycling
These runs are suitable for riders of all fitness levels and abilities, with riders from 14 years old upwards taking part. These runs regularly attract up to 18 riders, and generally follow quieter back roads with occasional off-road excursions on hill tracks or forestry roads. Club members also travel outwith the area to take part in long distance touring events organised by other cycling clubs.

It is anticipated that similar runs will be held on a regular basis, enabling club members to enjoy the scenery in neighbouring parts of the countryside without having to cycle over fifty miles just to get there!

A recent addition has been the promotion of long distance touring events under the auspices of Audax U.K. It is hoped that these 100km and 200km events, held on a Sunday in March, will attract an increasing number of cyclists from all over Britain to the Borders area to enjoy the scenery and hospitality.

Social Events
Social events are also organised to bring members together outside the cycling environment. Such events include the annual domino tournament, a Christmas lunch, an annual dinner and prize presentation, and other ‘theme’ evenings held during the year. The Club owns its own premises which are used for many of these functions, and also by members for training purposes. The clubrooms have an extensive selection of free weights and benches, together with a variety of static indoor trainers.
